ANNOUNCEMENT: Updated Names And Status Of Certain Provinces And Cities Under Resolution No. 202/QH15
According to Resolution No. 202/QH15 passed by the National Assembly on 17 June 2025, from 1 July 2025, several administrative units at the provincial level and centrally governed cities will undergo official name changes or adjustments to their administrative status.
This adjustment is intended to align with socio-economic development goals, preserve historical and cultural values and enhance the effectiveness of state governance.
The updated names will be applied consistently nationwide across all administrative documents, data systems, legal records, and transactions related to administrative boundaries.

Key highlights include:
- The country now comprises 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 28 provinces and 6 centrally governed cities.
- No adjustments were made to the following provinces and cities: Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Lang Son, Hue City, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Son La.
