VANTAGE LOGISTICS – STRONG IN SPIRIT, CONNECTED WITH CARE, OVERCOMING THE STORM TOGETHER

Over the past month, Viet Nam has faced a series of extreme weather events, including widespread flooding in the North and Central regions and severe landslides in the Central Highlands. The damage to lives, property, and production has been significant, deeply affecting livelihoods and economic activity. Most notably, in the past week, Typhoon Kalmaegi (Storm No. 13) brought prolonged heavy rainfall, strong winds, and heightened landslide risks across many provinces – especially in Central Viet Nam and the Central Highlands. The growing toll on people and infrastructure has posed major challenges for emergency response efforts. Thanks to decisive leadership from the Government and close coordination across all levels of authority, response and recovery efforts have been swiftly and comprehensively deployed. These actions have helped minimize losses and rapidly stabilize business and production activities. Map of Viet Nam’s seaport system after administrative adjustments Proactive Government – Confident Enterprises Upon early forecasts of Typhoon Kalmaegi’s complex developments, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention issued Directive No. 25/CĐ-BCĐ, urging provinces from North Central to the Central Highlands to activate emergency response plans to protect people and economic infrastructure. Emergency forces were fully mobilized to evacuate residents, safeguard assets, and inspect reservoirs, power grids, transportation, and telecommunications – especially in industrial zones and key logistics hubs. International transport systems, seaports, and airports remained operational, ensuring uninterrupted supply chains – critical for FDI enterprises. Recovery efforts were launched nationwide: electricity, transportation, and communications in key areas – particularly industrial parks and logistics centers – were quickly restored to ensure safe operations. Vantage Logistics – Vantage Logistics – Sharing Strength to Rise After the Storm In this context, Vantage Logistics not only maintained stable operations but also demonstrated strong social and humanitarian responsibility. The “Vantage Family” culture came to life through care, solidarity, and support – especially during these challenging times. From the earliest warnings, the entire Vantage team closely monitored the situation and extended special care to colleagues living and working in areas directly affected by Typhoon Kalmaegi: Many employees faced housing and transportation difficulties due to the storm. A rapid response team was formed to provide both material and emotional support. Timely encouragement and practical assistance empowered employees to stay resilient, maintain morale, and ensure operational continuity. “At Vantage Logistics, we believe every member is more than a colleague – they are a companion in building a shared home rooted in compassion, trust, and sustainable values.”Satellite image of Typhoon Kalmaegi over the Western Pacific Ocean, November 2025. Source: Zoom Earth National Resilience – A Foundation For Global Business This response effort reaffirms Viet Nam’s capacity for disaster risk management and its commitment to maintaining a safe, adaptable investment environment – even amid natural disasters. At the same time, Vantage Logistics has shown that a people-centered corporate culture is a powerful foundation for overcoming adversity and protecting what matters most: people. International partners can place their trust in Viet Nam’s rapid recovery capabilities, government support, and internal solidarity – key factors in ensuring business continuity under any circumstance.

Due to the complicated and unpredictable developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam with the number of new infections per day still fluctuating at a high level (over 10,000 cases on average), there have been many organizations, businesses and individuals actively contribute to the prevention of the spread of the pandemic. Vantage is proud to contribute a part in bringing an aid shipment of more than 4.9 million N95 face masks worth nearly 25 billion VND sent by a Vietnamese-American businessman to The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City (VFFC) with an aim to support field hospitals, isolation areas – places that are in high demand of medical protective equipment. Trusted by customers and agent, Vantage is responsible for coordinating with agent in the US to carry out sea freight, customs clearance, inspection, survey of delivery locations to arrange delivery plans, road transportation and discharge at each designated receiving location. It is worth mentioning that due to the impact of the pandemic, ports in the US such as Long Beach, Los Angeles are experiencing serious port congestion and lack of empty containers, Vantage’s OPS department has taken maximum advantage of its network with shipping lines to book space and containers for customers. The aid shipment was divided into 2 import shipments from Long Beach port – USA to Vietnam, including: 1. Shipment 1st: 11 x 40′ containers, including 3,696 packages. The shipment arrived at Cai Mep port on November 6, however, due to the need to obtain a permit from the VFFC to apply for a decision to receive aid and tax exemption, it was not until November 13 (Saturday) to prepare all documents. On 11/15 (Monday) Vantage has fully delivered to the designated receiving location in Ho Chi Minh City. 2. Shipment 2nd: 10 x 40′ containers, including 4,303 packages. The shipment arrived at Hai Phong port in 2 batches, the first phase of 5 containers arrived on November 21, the second phase of the remaining 5 containers arrived at the port on November 24, by November 25, Vantage had delivered all of them to the designated receiving locations in Hanoi. In order to save time for the shipment to be delivered to those in need soon, Vantage has processed customs clearance for these shipments before the ship arrives, when the container has just been loaded onto the yard, Vantage immediately arranges delivery regardless of day or night. Because the receiving locations are in the city center, there are some roads that vehicles are prohibited from driving during the day, so Vantage’s Cusbrok department staff stayed overnight at the warehouse to coordinate the unloading and delivery of the shipments to ensure the delivery plan. Due to the specificity of aid shipment, the preparation of documents is relatively complicated, adding to the impact of the pandemic, so the timely and complete delivery of the shipment is the best effort of the entire staff of Vantage’s OPS and Cusbrok departments with the spirit of contributing a part to the fight against the Covid-19 – Vietnam is determined to win the pandemic....

[HOT] Tan Cang Cat Lai Port Temporarily Suspends Receipt Some Of Specific Imported – Exported Goods To Solve Backlog

Saigon Newport Corporation, on the afternoon of July 31, informed that it would temporarily stop receiving import and export goods at Tan Cang Cat Lai Port in Thu Duc City of Ho Chi Minh City. Overall situation After a period of lockdown, the volume of containers discharged at Cat Lai port yard still increased. Meanwhile, the volume of cleared containers gate-out from port continuously decreased compared to before lockdown, leading to an increase in the number of containers in Cat Lai. The reason is that many factories and enterprises in the area have to reduce or even stop producing, so they don’t need to pick up import materials from the port. The high inventory leads to the risk that the port has to temporarily stop receiving vessels. In 3 weeks of Ho Chi Minh City’s implementation of the lockdown regulations, the number of vehicles entering and leaving Cat Lai port for delivery decreased by more than 3% in the first week, more than 10% in the 2nd week and more than 15.5% in the 3rd week. Currently, the increase in the amount of imported goods has not shown any signs of stopping because many factories have had to reduce production or stop working for 14-21 days due to blockade or failure to ensure the “3 activities – 1 place” conditions, “2 points – 1 route”. Tan Cang Cat Lai Port temporarily suspends receipt of goods Stating that in the past three weeks, the number of containers congested at the port had reached 100 percent of its capacity, while the direct handling force has been reduced by half, putting the port at risk of disrupting operations. This fact forces Cat Lai Port to temporarily stop receiving imported goods for enterprises and customers who are suspending production and encouraging vessels loading export goods only. Items that occupy extra yard capacity, such as oversized or over-weighted cargoes, are also subject to a temporary suspension of receipt as of August 5. In-transit RF goods that need trans-load operations will also be temporarily stop until end of August 16, 2021. According to calculations by Saigon Newport, the cargo handling plan of Tan Cang Cat Lai port will continue to be maintained until August 15, 2021 (reaching the highest level of 97.5% of inventory). However, with the complicated situation of the covid pandemic, Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces are imposing harder control method, factories and enterprises continue to have to reduce or stop production, import and export goods through Tan Cang Cat Lai port and other ports in the area will be seriously affected, shipping lines will have to adjust the schedule of vessels entering these ports of the region. Conclusion In addition to temporarily suspends receipt of goods as mentioned above, Saigon Newport has provided some suggestions for import-export businesses and shipping lines to adjust their plan in this period: –          Shipping lines and freight forwarders proactively persuade customers to adjust the destination port – the place to receive goods directly – to Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), Tan Cang – Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT) in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc (TCHP) Port in HCMC. The port will support shipping lines and customers to work with customs authorities to carry out procedures to quickly apply change of port of discharge (COD) procedure. –          Shipping lines to provide 2-weeks forecast of import laden and empty containers for port to plan. Depending on the level of container backlog and the specific situation, Tan Cang Cat Lai Port may apply the quota of imported goods on each service route. If the number of containers stockpiled at the port reaches the maximum capacity, Tan Cang Cat Lai Port will have to stop receiving vessels. Covid In Viet Nam And How It Affect Your Business?

General covid situation in Viet Nam: After nearly one and a half year Viet Nam was pretty quiet in number of Covid cases under 3,000 (only less than 3 cases per 1,000 population), since May, the number started to increase 2 digits, June increased 3 digits and July is increasing 4 digits every day. The North of Viet Nam witnessed the commence of the increasing in May, with a lot of cases discovered in factories and industrial zones, but very soon after that, the South’s new cases become more than the North. The South of Viet Nam is the main area of economy contributing more than 70% value of the country’s business, with Ho Chi Minh city in the center with ports, airports, logistics center, and country head office of many businesses, surrounded by the cluster of industrial provinces: Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria Vung Tau where many big factories are located. Covid control regulations by authorities: In order to control covid spreading situation, the authorities impose a lot of regulations and limits on the moving of inhabitants, cargo, and workers. For workers in the factory, authorities impose the regulation of “3 activities – 1 place” (workers will have to work, eat and live in the factory) or “1 route – 2 points” (workers stay in 1 dorm or hostel and being shuttled to factory only, not allow to go elsewhere), in factory and canteen workers need to be distanced min 1.5m from each other. Action of factories: Only few factories can match the requirements 100% and maintain normal activities. Most factories have cut down big part of their activities and only maintain small part whereas can match with the requirements. Some factories due to their conditions, cannot match the requirements and have to stop working. Consequences: Cost: increasing, because workers working and live in such poor conditions and apart from families, they request increase in salary to compensate. On the other hand, those workers who cannot work, still being paid 75% of salary for doing nothing, which is really a burden to factories. Moreover, factories have to pay the cost for arranging food, necessaries and accommodation for workers. Production: decrease, because of difficulties in material supplies, worker’s force and worker’s mental health. What authorities will do next? With the trend of increasing in number of new cases every day, we expect that in near future authorities will impose more severe control method and factories, want it or not, have to find ways to adapt. How this situation will affect your business? Need you to decide fast Since the control methods keep changing with the tendency of more and more severe, we should not hesitate: If you want to buy something, buy it fast, because the price can increase. If you have any cargo ready to delivery, take it fast, because the shipping can be difficult in next day. Freight trend: If the carriers maintain same allocation for Viet Nam, the freight will decrease because products export will be less. If the carriers cut allocation for Viet Nam and switch to China, the freight will maintain at high level now. Airfreight will be increased. What Vantage do Our first advice to all customers is, please try best to adapt yourself to match the new requirements, don’t shut down and wait till the requirements match yourself! No one knows how long this situation will last, so the faster you adapt and resume your manufacturing, the better position you get in front of your customers and competitors. Being well-prepared for many variously difficult situation, Vantage is flexible enough to match with changing requirements, and stable enough to provide a reliable service. Our knowledge and updates effectively help clients in their very specific situation....
