Further complicating the situation was severe port congestion in Singapore, a critical transit hub for Australia-bound cargo, where over 60% of vessels faced delays. Additionally, most carriers implemented a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of USD 1,000 per container starting July 1, further inflating costs. With operations stalled for a week and a looming September 30 deadline, over 200 containers remained to be shipped. To overcome these unprecedented obstacles, Vantage swiftly developed a contingency plan. Leveraging chartered vessels, the company secured critical space for nearly 200 containers, ensuring timely delivery despite limited equipment and carrier restrictions.
