Our Breakthrough Solution: to Arrange a Heavy-lift Vessel to Berth and Discharge at a Container Terminal then Deliver to Vinfast’s Press-shop Project In Vietnam

Vantage’s Project team just had a breakthrough solution to deliver heavy equipment to the Press-shop of Vinfast car factory.

Delivery of this shipment is really a tough challenge when we at the same time have to meet the very severe project time frame, to ensure safety (of course), and to overcome all obstacles about the road weight limit regulations. At first sight, looks like there is no solution. The port that can handle heavy lift vessel and cargo is at the location that faces weight limitation obstacles, the port that is at the location not facing weight limitation then is a container port only, which means not in the position to receive and handle heavy lift vessel and cargo. Needless to say, we also have to calculate the solution for temporary storage at the port then deliver from port to job site and positioning.

Our Vantage technical team urges several careful surveys that reveal the best option is to discharge cargo at the container terminal most close to the job site and deliver by road.

But, how to arrange for heavy lift vessel to berth and discharge at container terminal?

Vantage’s project teamwork at our utmost capacity with related parties and authorities: Port Authority, Vietnam Maritime Administration, Department of Transport, Ship Owner, Ship Agent… about the method of handling, co-ordination procedure, HSE control, necessary permits to prove of safety to people, equipment, cargo and finally got the approval to proceed.

The shipment was delivered in-line with our method statement, in time and we made another record in our project list.

– Project: Vinfast Car Factory – Press shop

– Commodity: heavy equipment

– Quantity: 3,500tons (7,000CMBs), of which the biggest unit: 14mLx0,5mWx0,6mH / 4 tons

– POD: container terminal at Hai Phong Port, Vietnam

– Vantage’s scope: apply for permit for break-bulk vessel docked into container terminal, unloading supervised and delivered to Vinfast factory

– Vessel: Autai

– Shipment time: December 2018
