SEPC Cracker Expansion Project: Vantage Logistics Delivers First Shipment On Time During Holiday Period

SEPC Cracker Expansion – A Strategic Milestone in Saudi Arabia’s Petrochemical Industry

Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company (SEPC), a joint venture between Tasnee Sahara Olefins Company (TSOC – 75%) and LyondellBasell (25%), is undertaking the expansion of its Ethylene Cracker plant in Jubail Industrial City – the world’s largest petrochemical hub.

Valued at USD 500 million and led by EPC main contractor SGC-eTEC (Korea), the project aims to increase ethylene production capacity by 18%. SEPC has selected Lummus Technology to supply two Short Residence Time (SRT) pyrolysis cracking furnaces – an advanced solution that enhances efficiency, saves energy and reduces emissions.

Currently, the plant has an annual capacity of approximately 1 million tons of ethylene and 285,000 tons of propylene, along with HDPE and LDPE production lines each at 400,000 tons per year.

Scheduled for completion and commissioning in the first half of 2026, the project is expected to contribute an average of SAR 200 million annually to Tasnee’s consolidated earnings. This represents a strategic step to strengthen SEPC’s position in the global olefin value chain and demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry’s commitment to sustainable development.

Vantage Logistics – Delivering Oversized, Heavy Equipment Solutions for Petrochemicals
Vantage delivers first shipment for SEPC Cracker Expansion despite holiday workforce constraints
Vantage proudly completed the delivery of the first shipment – the DEPROPANIZER unit along with accessories (distillation column) – consisting of 48 packages with a total weight of up to 1,213 FRT. The largest equipment measures 40m (L) x 3.5m (W) x 3.66m (H), weighing 47.5 tons.

Significantly, the shipment was delivered on schedule during the extended national holiday in Vietnam – a major operational challenge. Vantage closely coordinated with all stakeholders to meticulously plan inland transportation, port handling, and international sea freight to optimise both time and cost.
Successful delivery of the initial shipment demonstrates Vantage Logistics’ capabilities in handling heavy industrial logistics projects in oil & gas, petrochemicals and cracking sectors, including barge transport, sea freight and handling of heavy equipment at ports.
