Vantage Logistics Completes Handover of Oversized Equipment for the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant – A National Key Energy Project under the Quang Trach Power Centre, Quang Tri Province

Vantage Logistics has completed the handover of two Continuous Ship Unloader (CSU) systems and accessories moved from Shanghai, China to Hon La Port, Viet Nam. This oversized shipment plays a crucial role in finalising a key component of the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant – a national strategic energy project currently under development at the Quang Trach Power Centre. The CSU systems are core elements of the plant. They perform the full coal unloading process from bulk carriers and ensure a stable fuel supply to both generating units. Their timely installation is essential for the plant to meet its commissioning schedule. Supporting a National Energy Project: Ensuring Progress and Supply Security Project: Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, part of the Quang Trach Power Centre Investor: Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Project Manager: Power Project Management Board No. 2 (PMB2) Location: Quang Trach Power Centre, Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District, Quang Tri Province Under the guidance of the Government and EVN, the key target for the project is to synchronise Unit 1 to the national grid in December 2025, strengthening national energy security and supporting stable electricity supply for the central and southern regions. The completion of the CSU handover in September 2025 ensures that the project’s equipment supply timeline is maintained, supporting PMB2 in executing several critical work packages. This reinforces Vantage Logistics’ position as a trusted logistics partner for large-scale energy developments. Energy Development Landscape in North Central Viet Nam The progress of the Quang Trach 1 project takes place as the North Central region undergoes significant structural changes: Administrative merger: From 1 July 2025, Quang Binh and Quang Tri officially merged to form the new Quang Tri Province, covering approximately 12,700 km² with a population of around 1.87 million. The region now possesses an expanded development corridor, including a 240-km coastline and a network of strategic multimodal logistics infrastructure (Hon La Port, My Thuy Port, Dong Hoi Airport, and Quang Tri Airport). Large-scale shift towards cleaner energy at the Quang Trach Power Centre: The centre is not only home to Quang Trach 1 but also to several major projects driving the region’s energy transition: Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant: Capacity 1,500 MW (2 × 750 MW), investment capital approx. VND 52,490 billion. The project is finalising its feasibility study and EPC contractor selection, with groundbreaking expected in Q4/2025 (December). Quang Trach III LNG Power Plant: Included in Power Development Plan VIII, located in Phu Trach Commune with a planned capacity of 1,500 MW. Investor selection (proposed as EVN) is underway for implementation during 2031–2035. Coal Import Terminal & Breakwater: Featuring two berths for vessels up to 100,000 DWT (coal throughput 7.2 million tonnes/year), ensuring stable fuel reception. This is also where the newly handed-over CSU systems will operate. 500 kV Quang Trach – Doc Soi Transmission Line: Successfully energised for technical testing. The double-circuit line spans more than 500 km, connecting the Quang Trach Power Centre to the national grid and ensuring stable transmission capacity. The integrated development of these components not only meets growing electricity demand but also reflects the long-term vision of EVN and the Vietnamese Government under Power Development Plan VIII. It strengthens economic growth prospects and state revenue for the newly formed Quang Tri Province, creating strategic collaboration opportunities for logistics partners such as Vantage Logistics. Vantage Logistics – A Reliable Partner for Energy and Infrastructure Projects Vantage Logistics continues to support energy and infrastructure developments by providing logistics solutions tailored for oversized equipment and technically demanding cargo.
