Continuing to Successfully Handle Another Complex Shipment for the Bago Bridge Construction Project in Myanmar

After the first shipment handled successfully in May 2019, Vantage was trustfully awarded the second shipment of the Bago Bridge construction project.

The scope of Vantage’s responsibility for this project includes receiving goods from jobsite in Luong Son Industrial Park, Hai Phong City, Vietnam, loading cargo into containers by cranes and forklifts, applying for “Certificate of Origin” (C/O) and temporary export customs formalities, shipping from Hai Phong to MITT (Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa), Myanmar.

This 2nd shipment is bigger than the 1st one (including 2 packages of machinery and equipment with respectively dimensions of 9.70m L x 3.40m W x 3.40m H x 56.3 tons and 8.70m L x 3.30 m W x 3.30m H x 44 tons; 5 containers 40’HC, 2 containers 40’FR and 2 containers 40’OT), and more challenging.

In particular, the customer requires port of discharge to be either MITT port or Myanmar Industrial Port (MIP – Myanmar Industrial Port) in Yangon, as other ports are not in convenient position for delivery from port to jobsite. Meantime, with such dimension and weight, the choice of sea carrier is already very limited, together with the limited choice of port of discharge, really more narrow.

Furthermore, according to project’s requirements, cargo must be separately stuffed for 2 different deliveries for 2 different positions at jobsite. The goods consist of a lot of parts and components which is very easy to mix up and require very detailed control.

Similar to the first shipment in May 2019, this shipment also had a significant difficulty on applying only 1 form of C/O for the entire shipment; while these machines originated from various countries: Vietnam, Japan, Korea, America, China…, as well as collected from many sources such as importing from foreign countries, renting from local suppliers; which included both new and used equipment; moreover, due to insufficient documents proving the origin of goods, Vantage team has encountered many difficulties in collecting and processing documents during the implementation of customs clearance procedures for the shipment.

In addition, the rushing delivery time according to customers’ commitment is also a big pressure on Vantage’s team.

Overcoming all challenges and difficulties, with professional and experience in the field of transporting machinery and equipment for project, Vantage had researched, consulted and proposed the most cost-saving and safest solution as well as the form of “Certificate of Export Country” in compliance, in accordance with the shipment and customer’s requirements.

On 15th October 2019, the shipment has arrived at the destination port as scheduled.
